Hey ya’ll! It’s been a while since our last update. We just wanted to say for the umpteenth time that we are so grateful for all of your love and support through this journey.
Over the past couple months we hadn't heard anything about whether or not our profile book had been shown yet, which is to be expected. What we didn’t expect was to receive a call last Tuesday. A call that would potentially change our lives forever. Our case worker informed us that there was a birth couple that wanted to set up an interview. We couldn’t believe it! Not only had someone looked at our book but they wanted to meet us! We were beside ourselves. We were excited for this opportunity but nervous as well because for one, meeting new people can be scary but meeting with new people who may potentially be the birth parents of your future child is on another level! After the interview, we drove home with high spirits. It was such a good meeting. We didn’t know if we were going to be picked or not but we just felt so humbled to experience what we experienced. After getting home we tried to spend the next few days going about our business as usual but the not knowing if we had been picked or not was proving harder than we thought.
There was lots and lots of praying. We thought for sure we’d hear something by Sunday but still no word. At this point, despite our best efforts, doubt crept in. We started to question ourselves and wonder what life looks like if we aren’t chosen. How long would it be before someone else sees our book and then decides they want us to parent their baby? Monday morning was business as usual, wake up, go to work, try to focus, pray. Later that morning, we received a call from our social worker so she could give us an update. Everything was whizzing by at 100 mph at this point. Trembling with anticipation of what this phone call meant. Not sure what to think, we wait as the social worker utters the words “THEY CHOSE YOU”. Holy cow they chose us! What now? Tears? Questions? Utter shock. This precious couple had looked through over 50 profile books and decided that they wanted us to be parents to their baby. We were overwhelmed with emotions. What an incredibly humbling experience. God is so good! We should probably pause here and mention the wildest part of this story. The baby had been born on Friday, February 21st! (the Friday before we went to meet the birth parents!) We had been chosen and the baby was already here. That’s right folks, as of Wednesday March, 4th we are the proud parents of a beautiful, healthy, baby boy. It’s hard to describe the vast amount of emotions we’ve experienced in the last week.
WOW we are now MOM and DAD! Something we’ve spent the last 6-7 years waiting and praying for. And none of this would have been possible without your prayers and support. Thank you doesn’t seem to grasp the gratitude we have felt for the love we have been shown since we started this journey. But for lack of a better term, Thank You, from the bottom of our hearts for making a difference in this child’s life and supporting this dream of ours. We are forever grateful!
